Research group in plant molecular evolution

Welcome to our group page, from the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences, University of Sheffield.

Our research focuses on the evolutionary origins of complex traits, which we address through the study of various datasets in a phylogenetic context. Our approach spans genomics, transcriptomics, anatomy, ecology and plant physiology.

We work with different groups of plants, with a special focus on some grasses. Our preferred study system is C4 photosynthesis, a complex trait that evolved multiple times independently. Visit our research page to learn more.
